I have gotten to spend the week here at JDV with a group that I dearly LOVE, and starting Monday with Jake Edelman, and then Wednesday with Jeff Edelman, Brice Beecher and Kendal Grimm all accepting Jesus Christ as there personal Lord and Savior and beginning their repentance!

Meet Kirby Woods

This is Kirby Woods. We had a Great week with this team from Memphis, TN. The team consisted of mostly deaf but there were a few hearing as well. The focus of the week was VBS with the kids. The team did really FUN experiments and games that the kids LOVED! I have lots of pics and videos to post but don't have the time to do it now, and will be at JDV all next week so there may not be a lot of posting for awhile.

Welcome Matt

About 11:30 Monday Night Matt decided to come down as a summer intern leaving Tuesday morning and arriving in MoBay at 10:30

(Less then 12 hours later).

I would like to welcome Matt to our little group until he goes back home in July. He came down with his brother Blake and will be spending the summer helping him out with teams. Please pray for him as he has given up a large part of his summer to come and serve with us. He does not sign very well, but I'm sure by the end of his stay he will be doing just fine.

Meet This Weeks Teams

This past week has been BUSY. We had two teams with us this week, Both have worked with us before and we were thankful to have them both back to work with us again.

The first team was Dr. Buz and his dental team.

This team consisted of Dr. Buz, his wife, two sons, and Dr. Archer from the Bahamas

I spent just about ALL my time with them this week in the clinic doing dental work. Praise The Lord we were able to get all the needed cleanings and dental work done for the year on the kids. They do great with the kids and things went smoothly this year as I was able to interpret and hold hands during the more difficult dental work. It helps the kids to have that familiar face around and since I have "earned" my place down here it helps a lot to get the kids focused and through when they are scared.

The Second team was from Southside Baptist Church. I have worked with the Leader (Ron Ward) and his wife Julie before, but the others I had not met. I didn't get to spend very much time other then meal time with them since things kept me in the clinic. This team finished making lids for our new drainage system down at the school, then started working on the guard house that they are putting in by the offices.

I Have Learned...

That I was Never to be a dentist or a dental assistant.

Dr. Buzz is here with his team and yesterday we worked for close to 12 hours seeing students, cleaning their teeth, deciding which ones needed to come back to have teeth filled. By the kids supper time I was Spent. It had been a long day but we had gotten in about 100 kids! (our record last year was 107). Then A graduate came asking to see the dentist because her tooth was really bothering her. So I was doing the interpreting and the short of it was she needed to have one of her wisdom teeth pulled. So for about the next hour I held this girls hand as they tried to get this wisdom tooth out. Earlier in the day our x ray machine broke so they didn't know what they were working with just blindly trying to feel and get this tooth out. I have NEVER in my life got the feeling like I was going to faint before but I did yesterday holding that poor girls hand and trying to encourage her. I didn't want to let go of her hand and leave her because she was in so much pain and scared, but at the same time I knew if I didn't sit down and I was going to fall down. SO I yelled at Stewart (one of Dr. Buzzes sons) to get me a chair or catch me when I fall so he quickly got me a chair so I could sit down and continue to hold her hand. Dr. Buzz, Dr. Archer and I were all praying our little hearts out as this tooth was not wanting to come, and this girl was SUCH a TROOPER but you could tell was in some SERIOUS pain. Praise Jesus about 6:15 after the supper bell had rang the tooth came out. (It was HUGE). The girl was given her meds for pain and instructions on how to take them and sent on her way. Please pray that everything heals smoothly for her after what she had to go through to get it out.

After all that it was still Dr. Archers Birthday so we went over and surprised her with a cake! A good ending to a good (PTL I didn't faint) day. And now its time to do it all over again!

Happy Mothers Day to All you WONDERFUL Mothers out there that I LOVE!

I had a nice surprise from my kiddos( and the CCCD family). Little Paris came up and handed me a gift and wished me happy mothers day:) I thought that was cute since I do love these kids like my own. I was blessed with some nice woven hot pads and a Spy's Survival Handbook, I don't know what I am going to do with the second (since I'm not a "Spy")but the first I'm sure I will use regularly. I am so blessed by my kids many times feeling unworthy of this blessing.

Transitioning Back

Thankfully I have this week work team free to settle back into life and a routine (that word used very lightly) before work team season starts on Sat. with 2 teams coming in.

I had transitioned into life in the states doing my best to remember to flush the toilet after I used it and throwing out the little JA saying "if its yellow let it mellow if its brown flush it down" After the first few days I didn't question my turns so much on the road and I quit hitting the gear shift when I was trying to use the blinker. I started looking out for deer/coons/ and other wildlife on the road while I was driving at night instead of looking out for people. I started to communicate more with my mouth and less with my hands. It was nice to get out and walk to enjoy the parks and sidewalks and if there was not a side walk I felt free to walk along the street and not have to be ready to jump in the bushes with every passing car. I started to show up for things on time and people would actually be there ready to do whatever it was we had planned to do, and for the most part once plans were set they where not changed.

Now I am transitioning back to island life where I hurry up and wait, the only guarantee down here is that plans whatever they are and however long ago you made them WILL change, I am now back to talking with my hands more then my mouth, I have yet to drive but am sure I will now hit the windshield wipers a few times when I try to use my turn signal, and I will have to start watching out for people on the roads (and the random goat, dog, cow).

Time to go play with the Kiddos!

Home Sweet Home

I am HAPPY to say that I have made it home safely

(Thank You Jesus)

It was a good travel day as far as travel days go

I crashed(slept) in the bus on the way to KP so the ride went fast

It has been raining, cold, and cloudy wherever I went today

but that's okay because I am now home.

I was welcomed home with lots of hugs and squeals from my kiddos

and bugs and dust covering my house:)

Its 7:44 and I am falling asleep as I write.

I'm SO excited to sleep in my own bed tonight:)

Thanks for all of you who helped me party and keep busy while I was in the states.

And for the record I was never able to go skydiving:( It was a sad day when I had to hand over my jump ticket BUT there is always next year!
