Everyday Afternoons

Typical afternoons consist of us on the playground, or in the
library, or on the playground, or in the library.
After weeks and weeks of this I thought a little
change was needed so we got out the side walk chalk
and the fun began.

Once the chalk was done a folding
chair was found, flipped over, and it
became a car for the little girls.

it went from a single seater

to a double seater, but then it was
to heavy for Paris to push and turns
had to be taken as it became a single
seater again.

Balloons!

The popular thing teams have been bringing recently is
the long balloons that you twist into different shapes.
They bring them but then never seem to get around
to doing this fun activity with the kids.
Now we have hundreds and hundreds of these
balloons. So this week the kids and I spent and afternoon
having a fun with them.

After one afternoon of
blowing up balloon after balloon (to the point my
finger felt like it was going to fall off from tying all the balloons
because The kids would accidentally pop theirs then come sign
"new balloon please" ) we now set it up that the kids each get 1
balloon if they obey, and help clean up after play time in the library.
This way we both win. The kids have fun with the balloons,
and my finger doesn't fall off from tying hundreds at a time!

Yesterday afternoon Paris came up to me
and asked me to make her a dog...
instead she got a hat:)

Meet Midlothian

Last week we had a first time team here from Midlothian
Texas. They were willing workers and were able

to get a lot of work done on our clinic.

Running Away

After 5+ weeks of going nonstop with teams and travel I
am PRAISING God this week I am team free. When my team
left Sat. morning I quickly did a clean sweep of the dorm,
threw a packed bag into the bus, then ran away to Portmore
for the weekend.

Once I arrived at Tashi's she informed me of the "rules"
for the weekend. (I rolled my eyes as I accepted:)
Rule #1 She is the leader and I must follow.
(this rule came in handy when she would give
me tons of options and I don't like to make decisions
so I could simply inform her I was there to follow:)
Rule #2 I couldn't drive we would only take public
transportation as we went around Portmore and Kingston.
(this rule was set up since I have never in my 3+ years here
taken public transportation)

After an afternoon of making cookies for Sunday after
church we took a bus into Kingston. Our first stop was
Little Tokyo for supper.

we then walked around some stopping at a wedding dress
shop and a fabric store to see possible wedding options.
Once back at halfway tree we got on bus 83 (see Tashi
I was paying attention:) to take us to Emancipation Park.

We then walked/ran around Emancipation Park while
chatting and enjoying a beautiful Kingston evening.
(Praise Jesus for girls nights out!)

Sunday I went to church at Calabar. I had never been
before and I have always wanted to go to the Deaf Church
in Kingston. And they were announcing (pic above) Blake
and Tashi's engagement and giving them an opportunity to
share their story in church so I was thankful I could go and
support them on their big day.

This is a short video clip from the service at
Calabar. Pastor Damian was there to preach,
and The Open Bible Church from St. Elizabeth
was there too yesterday. Damian would
sign in JSL for the service then Pauline (Tashi's
mom) would translate the JSL to Country Sign
for those from the Open Bible Church who
only sign in Country Sign. It was very cool to see.

Watching God Move

I have been blessed to watch as God has been unfolding
a beautiful Love story in the lives of two people that I love
so very much.
Congratulations
Blake and Tashi!
I have loved watching your love story unfold and I am
so excited to see all that God has planned for your lives!

My Samsons

My pre-primary classes and I read the story of Samson
and then made our own before and after Samsons' for a
craft. Once the craft was done my kids
wanted to show their Samson like strength:)

Meet Wheaton

I Praise God for this team. God knew I needed this team, and
my time with them. He used them in a phenomenal way as they
became vessels for His use in ministering to us here at CCCD KP.
They not only encouraged me,
but all those they interacted with during their stay.
I learned so much from them... during the
converstations I was able to follow:)!

Sports Day!!!!

Another Sports Day has come and gone and I praise God for

a successful and fun day!

Here are some pictures from the day in no specific order...

The potato race: the goal to pick up the balls one at a time
and put them in your box...

when all your balls are collected you then pick up your
box and run to the finish line.

I love this picture of my little boys and how Damian and
Richard are so serious and Tajay is just in it for fun!

Here is a picture of the Wheaton team racing and it reminds
me so much of the picture above but this time it looks like
James and Kent have their serious competitive face on and
Ryan is just in it for the fun:)

Then there was a little drama... it was an accident....
accidents happen... but there was SO MUCH
disappointment in the end:(
What Happend: All day the Red team and Purple team had gone
back and forth holding first place. After looking at the score
sheets the Red team was informed if you win the race you win
Sports Day.

So the boys got pumped up and ran hard

Red team won the race....

and the Red team celebrated there victory.

That is until the Purple team asked for a recount...
and we found a mistake was made in the points
given for the final races.

We then had to take the victory away from the
Red Team:(
And give it to the rightful winners the
Purple Team.

The purple team then celebrated their victory and
that was the end of sports day 2011.

Creation Drama

Today the Wheaten team did a drama for church

at JDV. It starts with creation, sin entering the world,
deafness entering the world, acceptance from Jesus,
Jesus dying on the cross, oppression from the world,
finding strength and wisdom to know what to do
from Christ.

Meet Steffner

This is Steffner Academy from Brandon Fla. They brought
a team last year and are now hoping to make this a yearly
trip for their school. They are the generous group that
brought of all the donations from the post before.
Thanks Steffner!

Overwhelmed by Generosity!

The team here with us this week, held a clothing drive at school
then blessed us by bringing some of the cloths they collected.
A HUGE Blessing... Just a little overwhelming at the AMOUNT
of clothing that was donated.

about a week of working on sorting, putting away, and
distributing the donations!
