Simone

I had asked before for prayers on behalf of my friends Simone.
I ask that you please continue. She went into Kingston very early Tuesday morning and was admitted to the hospital. Tests were run yesterday including an MRI. I can tell she is getting more anxious and scared as things are happening she doesn't understand. I am getting lots of texts with questions. Today's..
"what is mean complications?"
"develop complications on brain that serious?"
" i ask u that risk serious"
"the doctor to find out something risk at my brain so the doctor will surgery"
As you can see from the texts they are not the easiest to understand and I don't know the whole story or all the information the doctor is giving her so I am not able to fully answer her questions. Please pray for wisdom as I try to help her understand what is going on (with only limited knowledge myself), and that I know how to encourage her at this time.
THANKS!

Another Day in the Life...

I will give you the forewarning now that there are pictures that some may not like to see of some 4 legged friends... You have been warned

This morning I was given a list of things that people wanted to have done before school started. With school starting soon things are picking up and I am LOVING that I can once again find my peace in the chaos and I love the feeling of being productive.

Job number one of the day:

I was to dig through the store room in search of mice nests!

(I know you are all very jealous that I got this job:)

Then when it was all said and done I got to dispose of the findings

Now waiting to see If I can get over to JDV to bring over more donations...

I just need a driver for the truck. Any one know how to dive a stick?

Off to a good start!

First off I would like to ask you all to pray for my friends Simone.
She texted me this morning informing me she had been to the hospital in Kingston because of pain in her brain (migraines) something was wrong so they want to do surgery. Trying to get the real story out of a deaf person, in person, can be a challenge and I was trying to do it through texting (nearly impossible) From what I pulled there is fluid that needs to be removed and she is going in for surgery next week. Please pray for her this is not easy for her to understand and I am sure she is very scared.
This brings me to my good start that I'm off to...
Our first women's bible study for the fall started about 3o min ago and anyone has yet to show up... my guess... no one will. This is something that has me puzzled as these women beg me to get something started (and now that work team season is over I have time to) and then when I do... no one comes. I think a big part of it is Simone is my biggest recruiter and leader in the study and now that she is going through this situation with out her motivating (forcing) others to come WBS might be slow for a while:)
Please pray that things will pick up. The women will be motivated to come. and all Glory will be given to God.

I should know better...

This afternoon it got to the point that I was once again looking for something to do...
I started going through my cupboards and found cornmeal and corn bread sounded good so I figured I could make corn muffins... and I did. Once they were done I put them on wax paper to cool off thinking I would come back later to put them away...
when I came back later there were ants EVERYWHERE! It was out of control. I was a little frustrated with myself because I should know better by now NOT to leave food on the counter for any length of time without putting it in SOMETHING. At first I tried picking the ants off and putting the muffins away (gross I know but I was going to try to save what I could). The top fell off of one of the muffins and ants where crawling around inside the muffins. Gross Gross Gross! Then I looked over at the bag I was putting muffins in and ants were all over the inside of the bag. I guess I didn't get ALL the ants off before putting them in the bag...
So all the muffins were moved to the garbage bag.
Then there was this mess that was left from making those muffins...

THANKFULLY

I lost motivation after the first pan came out and was set to cool so I left these in the pan to cool leaving me with some ant free muffins. Yay!

Welcome newest Huber!
ANA
so I found out today Tropical Storm Ana has come this way, and yet I am still trying to get info as the internet is not usually on long enough for me to check whats going on:). That was my guess this morning as I sat outside 10 ft inside the garage area and I was being soaked from the side ways rain that was falling very very hard. I went out to enjoy the rain not knowing it was a tropical storm:) I don't have Kirk here giving me updates of the storms in the area so I guess I need to start paying more attention myself.

Driving School

The BIG red L has been added to the school's bus and driving practice with Ms. Wright has started. All "learning" drivers or those applying for a drivers license must have the learning L on the vehicle
The deaf have been trying for a LONG time to get drivers license. Laws are now SLOWLY being changed and the deaf are now studding the road rules book so they can apply and test for their drivers listens. While they are studding and waiting to test they are practicing their driving with Ms. Wright.

Learning Love.

Is life not FULL of opportunities for learning love? Every man and women, everyday has a THOUSAND of them... And the one eternal lesson for us all is how better we can love

~Henry Drummond~

Yesterday camp started here and things went.... I guess all I can say is I FEEL like I used ALL of my opportunities yesterday to serve and show love. and I am sorry to say not always with a very good attitude. Last night as I laid in bed and the banging on my door started again... I thought to myself If I ignore it will it go away? No it doesn't it just gets louder and longer. Praise Jesus for another opportunity to get up, serve, and show love.

3 more days with this group. Please pray I make it through continually learning, serving, and showing love.

Being Reminded...

That Whatever State I am... There I am to be content!
I knew it would not be an easy transition going from a non stop busy work team season to...
completely stopping and having everyone leave in one weekend
But God is Good ALL the Time No Matter What!
So far this week Both Internet and Electricity have been finicky that has left me with...
my stove so I have been cooking to keep busy
My freezer is filling up
and so is my counter space
and I am running out of tupperware to store things in
(Keri if any of the tupperware looks familiar... thanks for letting me borrow some)

Tuesday's Project:
Lasagna both regular and chicken because I made WAY to many noodles and ran out of hamburger after the first batch:)
Yesterdays project: Cinn. Rolls (Thanks T for the recipe!)
A local camp came in today to use our facilities so that will keep me going through the weekend.
Have a great one!

Making Homemade Ravs!

Last Thursday Morning I spent in the kitchen with these ladies learning how to make Ravioli from scratch. Jo is Italian and every mission trip she goes on as a contribution and thanks to whomever they are serving with that week she makes a big Italian meal. This week Ravs!
Jo, Teresa, and Andrea
Jo was the only one who knew what to do
the rest of us just did as we were told:)
Rolling out the dough to make the rav noodles.
It was harder then I thought to roll
out with the consistency of the dough
Teresa and Andrea taking the already cut Ravs
and filling them with the meat filling.
We also filled some with calaloo and cheese.
Some of the ravs all stuffed and ready to be cooked.
Blake, Warren, Kendall, Ionda, and I went to Kingston that evening to watch our Montego bay kids perform in the Jamaican Festival but as soon as we got home at 1:30 in the morning we searched the kitchen until we found them heated up the leftovers and enjoyed. Mmm... They were SO good!

Happy
Independence
Day!

Meet Last Weeks Team

This is Tom Cooney. Wow what an interesting and Godly man he is. He works with the youth ministry organization called team effort, and I had the opportunity to work with and learn a little of his story last week.
Tom is deaf and worked as a sports writer for many years interviewing (i think he said) around 1500 different athletes and other famous people. He met with Helen Keller and went to her house at the age of 9, has met and visited with the last 6 presidents, has a poster filled with about 50 pictures of him and well known actors, presidents, athletes, and others that he has interviewed over the years. The cool thing about his poster... In all the 1500 plus interviews he did he only put on the pictures of him with those who made the effort to communicate with him. Those who tried to sign. When he was telling me about all this I found it very cool how he was blessed with so many opportunities to meet and interview those people to be a light and example to them. When I told him this he is like its not about me... I need to stay humble... Its all for the Glory of God. Amen Brother! Tom has also started Lily (Lord I Love You) the Love Frog Inc. (www.lilythelovefrog.org)
This team came through Team Effort.
Team Effort has sent 3 teams down this year two working here at KP and one working in MoBay. This Group came all the way from PA, they had beautiful servant hearts, and I learned a lot from them (how to make home made Ravs! YUM! Pictures to come...)

Jamaican Festival

Thursday Night a group of us drove down to Kingston to watch our MoBay kids perform their dance at the National Celebration of Jamaican Culture. Those that performed were dancing groups, singing groups, and speakers, that had all won awards at previous competitions. The program started at 8 and our kids were the 28th on the program so we waited until about 10:30 to watch them perform. It was a LATE night arriving back home in the early hours of the morning but TOTALLY worth it to watch the kids. We also got to see a few of them before they went on. I was so happy they saw us and knew they had people there supporting them. At the end of the video clip you can hear the crowd go CRAZY when Mario does his MJ impersonation. It just so happened that along with the Prime Minister and other important government people that attended Tito Jackson (MJ's brother) was also there as a "special" guest. The cheering exploded and had not been that loud all night until our kids performed... I was so proud of them they did GREAT!
