Meet Pioneer Pres.

This past week a team from Pioneer Pres. Church in PA was here to serve with us.
They have been coming down and working with our different campuses for many years so they knew what they were doing. I was thankful for their experience since I was sick just about the entire time they were here and not able to spend as much time with them as I would have liked.

Tis so Sweet to Trust in Jesus

So I still don't know what was wrong with me. I went to the Dr. and she did the test but we won't know for another 4 days. The good news... my throat was nasty enough that I got the meds I needed to get rid of the infection.
It has not been a fun week. It has been a VERY hard week. I am NOT a very patient person, and I do NOT like being sick or told I can't go out because even though I feel fine I am contagious.BUT this too did pass and life goes on and another work team comes in and through it all...
GOD IS GOOD.

Could it be???

Was I blessed with Strep???
Maybe thats why I have not been hungry, or why I am sleeping for 14-18 hours a day, maybe thats why I have white spots on my throat.
I am hoping to go to the Dr. tomorrow to see. Today is a national holiday so the Dr.'s office is closed. Hopefully I can find a ride in tomorrow and finally get ride of whatever I have.
Please pray.

It was just about the perfect day. Beautiful with a good breeze through sports day then right when we finished the rain came.
I became worthless about 2 hours into the day as I was out playing photographer, and score keeper when I should have been home sleeping. My kids have now gone home for holiday and I am now stuck to the couch.

Grrrr....

So for the last week I have been dealing with this infection in my neck. It was really gross and a pain but I could still go on about my daily duties. This morning I woke up and could not get up. I am sick. I HATE being sick. I am not a good sick person. I don' t feel like I have that luxury to be sick. There is a work team here and way to much to do for me to stay home and sleep all day. I went down this morning to get the work team started then Sweet Lilian (a visitor who is also a nurse) told me to make a strong salt water drink to gargle with for my sore throat. When Mrs d looked at me she took hold of my arm and told me to go home that I have a fever, I kind of guessed that but I don't like being sick so I was out and about trying to do as much as I could praying I would not pass out or throw up:). Common Sense finally kicked in and I don't want to get others sick and I would rather be sick today then Tomorrow (sports day) so maybe if I take it easy then I will get out tomorrow. Please pray for healing. Thanks.

Meet Highland Park

The team pic at Y.S. Falls
This Was a really FUN team. I wasn't sure how the week was going to play out working with 30+ first time high school students (plus staff, once I realized who was staff and who was students:)), but they did great. They kept amazing attitudes through the week, they took on whatever we threw at them, and they kept going, working most of the day then going right to playing with the kids for the remainder of the day and into the night.
Praise God for His Provisions. This team also blessed me in great way. I love that He places just what we need in our lives at the perfect time. This team starts off a stretch of 7 teams back to back and that thought alone is a lot to think about with all the work that goes into each team. This team included me in their fun and made it a great easy week for me. I got in lots of good talks, lots of Euchre, and lots of laughter. What a great way to start off a long stretch.
Thanks Highland Park! Top 10!

A random Video of Jeremy doing his monkey run that he became famous for with the kids down here. They thought he was acting like a frog so his name was frog for the week.

Wednesday/Thursday

So Wednesday must have been my crazy day this week because this is the only picture I got for Wednesday's spirit day. As you can guess it was black and white day.

Thursday Was Jamaica day so all the kids dressed up in all their Jamaica clothing
Sheldon and Davia dressed for Jamaica day
Andre dressed head to toe for Jamaica day.
Friday I didn't get any pictures because I was gone all day taking the team to Y.S. for their free day. It was old shoe and sock day.
Blessings

Whoops!

As most of you know we haven't had any real good rain showers in a really long time making things very very dry. Last week we had very strong winds. During one of these very windy days Vince one of our farm workers decided to burn some brush and... as you can see from the picture it got away from him. Thankfully he got it under control right as it reached the security walls of the properties surrounding us.

Hat/Tie Day

Today Started Spirit week in preparation for Sports day next Tuesday. Usually sports day comes at the end of March right before Easter break but for whatever reason it was moved up this year. Today was Hat and Tie day so all the kids had hats and ties.
Paris and I in our hats
Some of my girls modeling their hats
Ms. Boothe and her class in their hats and ties

In preparation for sports day every afternoon the kids run then do there stretching and exercise to get ready for the "BIG" day.
Sports day is something these kids look forward to all year. I am always getting the question what color are you? (which color house do I cheer for? Red, Orange, Purple) I stay neutral and cheer on all my kids:)

The Hubers

Last week I had the opportunity to go hang out with the Hubers for a few hours and capture pictures for their beautiful family.
What a Blessing

4-H

Believe it or not we here in JA have 4-H too!
Some of our kids are involved in 4-H, and last week a group from the 4-H group in Mandeville came in and did a cooking workshop with our 4-H members
cutting up carrots as thinly as possible
Erica and Amoy spreading a liquid butter over dough
Erica and Amoy working with the dough
Lashawna cutting up peppers.
Whatever they were making it sure smelled good!

The Valentine Pictures

Allesha working very hard to put stickers on her valentine.
The finished product
Some of the older kids stamping on their valentines. I didn't have time to take many pictures of them making valentines because I believe I had about 20 young ones in there that all wanted glittery hearts on their cards so I was trying to help them with glue and glitter and not taking pictures:)
After supper the kids had their valentines party with games
and a cake.

Happy Valentines Day

So I took a bunch of pictures of the kids making valentines this afternoon, and was going to post them as I wished you all a Happy Valentine's Day. But then my camera was borrowed, and then someone else borrowed it from that person, and another person borrowed it from that person (this is usually the case in Jamaica). So at this time I don't have my camera to get the pictures off so I can post them. Soon come ya hear.
Tomorrow to celebrate Valentines day I get to make my first solo drive to Mobay. Eeek! I will be following Warren but I will be driving the bus all by myself! Please pray for me tomorrow morning as the 3 hour drive it made! Thanks
Enjoy your weekend.
I love you.

What to do

When there is no water, no electricity, and the kids are in the dorm for the night?
Make a cake!
I had a cake mix just sitting in my cupboard, and cake sounded good. I have a gas stove and it was the only thing that was working. I had to use a flashlight (what I'm using in the pic) to check my cake to see if it was done.
I now have a bunch of cake to get rid of because I don't really want to eat it all myself.
If you want a piece come on over!

The Jamaican Sky

I am fascinated by the sky down here.
The Jamaican blue sky is.... I have no words to describe it.
God is such and artist

The night sky is something I stare at in awe nightly.
The stars are so bright, and clear. And the moon!

Last night the moon was illuminating the clouds as it rose and I stood admiring its beauty, then ran for my camera. I don't have my tripod down here so getting a good night picture without shaking and having it come out clear is just about impossible, but I was thankful to get a few good shots.

O how my heart smiles

as I sit in my home and listen to the rain pound against the zinc (tin) roof. What a beautiful sound. Praise God for his provisions.
Have a great day.

A little bit of life

The first video is an example of the sounds I fall asleep to every night. Most people (work teams)Get annoyed with it but I LOVE IT. It has become the sounds of home, the sounds of comfort:)

So for whatever reason this video is sideways and because I am by no means a computer person I don't know how to change it. This is showing the best water pressure that I have had for about the last month. The bottles at the bottom are what I continually fill since 2 out of the 3 times I will try to turn water on during the day I get nothing. After I shut off the camera the water then ceased to come.... AT ALL:) I am happy to say a large work team is coming in this weekend and if we haven't had enough rain to hold us over by this weekend that means the water truck is brought in.

Have a great week.

ITS RAINING!!!!!
ITS POURING!!!
Erin is going to get a good shower!

Sweet Hearts

Paris and Tajay have become great friends
and if you ask they will let you know they are sweet hearts:)
They are the ones who come to cuddle every night
not wanting to be left out they are usually both on my lap.
What a blessing these kiddos are. Such a great way to relax at the end of the day.

Meet Gawayne

Gawayne is one of my students that I have a lot of fun with. He is such a happy kid with a great attitude. I work with him on Mondays for Speech therapy. Here is a little of what we go through each week.
