Huber Family Photo Fun!

For the last 3 years I have had the privilege of
attempting to capture family pictures for the Hubers.
This year we got in around 500 pictures in about an hour.
I was impressed with that, but was later informed
that "statistically" speaking I was 96 pictures short of
getting 1 good picture... whose speaking statistically?
Not Me!
I think I proved that "statistical" speaker wrong:)

Here was a glimpse of our time together.
As Chad contemplated if he really wanted to attempt a family picture
the decision was made and the family called to get
together and smile nice:)
so the entire family ventured out in search of a good spot
to take a family picture.
Thus began the attempts:
Tim put your hands down.
Smile Ellie!
that's better now look at the camera...
Anna... I can't see your beautiful face.
"Where did Lucas go?.... Where did he go?.... There he is...hahaha"
What a great game!
Dlyan...open your eyes buddy...
Chad, Emma, Ellie...look this way...
O'no it looks like Lucas has fallen asleep.
That's enough... Lets go Home!

Thanks for another fun photo day Hubers!
(and yes there were many good pics. I just didn't know
what ones the Hubers wanted to use so didn't want to
post them:)

Thought for the Day

I read this thought last week... this weekend... I don't remember...
but its something God keeps bringing to my mind.
"Isn't it a comfort to worship a God we cannot exaggerate?"
-Crazy Love-

Yes it is!
Just stopping to think about what that really means.
makes my heart smile every time:)

Friday Afternoons

When school is out....
and the socks are washed...
the weekend is officially here
and the transformation begins.
The kids become:
fashion designers
mothers
telemarketers
cops handing out tickets
and shop keepers.

I love watching their imaginations!

From One Extreme To Another

Remember back to the first half of the year where we were continually
praying and asking for prayers that rain would be sent?
It had been so dry for so long... we were very careful in how we used
the little water we had...
Prayers were answered!!!!
Now the rains come and come and come.
So much rain that roads are being destroyed by the power of
the water, people and cars are being washed away as they
try to make there way through flooded areas, and then today
I came across this picture from our MoBay school. Because
of all the rain and it having no where to go the force of it knocked down
a large part of the schools block wall perimeter.

3 Years

Today marks 3 years on the Island. It has gone by so quickly
and yet some days take forever. (I usually think of the 20th as
the first day here since it was the first full day and not simply the arrival day.)

On that first night 3 years ago I can remember sitting in my
apartment crying with nothing but a bed and and my 2
suitcases thinking "Erin...what have you done" and now
I feel so blessed, peaceful, and happy.
Thank You Jesus for bringing me to this point.

Happy Hero's Day!

Yesterday was Hero's Day, a national holiday, with the kids
gone and nothing going on around school a group of us headed
to Mobay for a beach day. It was a perfect Jamaican day and as
we lay there soaking up the sun the question was thrown out "how
amazing is this?". It was pretty Amazing!
As we were getting ready to leave I sat on my beach sheet watching
the lighting from a storm coming in. Very Cool! I Love Storms.
Then we met up with Jeff and Jody Daniels (new missionary couple
at CCCD Mobay) and have dinner with them and their family.
Please pray for them as they continue to transition to life on the island.

Factory Photo Shoot

Friday I went over to the village to play photographer
and try to capture some of the work the factory is doing
so they could use the photographs in advertisements
a general shot of the factory showing different projects
in process.
The "artistic" shot chad set up
My helpers who set up the shots for me.
I have no idea what Blake is doing in this picture
but think its hilarious the way Chad is looking at him.
I can totally read Chad's thoughts but will keep
them to myself:)
A bed room set completely hand made in the factory
we were trying to set up a shot showing a
variety of factory products and chad
was the "picture holder upper" in this shot.
Blake creeping in picturesCalva using his God given talents as he hand carves
different designs into the wood furniture.

Front Door Service

Usually once a day I hear a knock on my door
and open it to this face.
This morning he is the garbage man.
collecting trash to put in the back of his bike to take
to the trash barrel.
Other days he is a flower delivery guy,
a treasure sales man, or a random handy man
(wondering if I need help with anything.)

Happy Thursday

This is how Paris came into the library after school
today. It made me laugh. It was raining so I guess she
needed her goggles on:) The straps are broken so she
just has them suctioned to her eyes.
This is Sheldon. He rarely sits still, hits, bites, and throws things when
he is overstimulated, but I am a huge fan.
When ever he sees me he grunts for my attention then likes
to take my arm and randomly lead me around. He has also
at times (I think) tried to hug me. Its kind of an awkward thing
and I am half nervous he is going to bite me being so close. Thankfully
he has not bitten me yet while giving me a "hug". While watching
the other kids play he will randomly just start
laughing, then smile, yell, and continue to laugh.
It always makes me smile.
Yes this is gross. I noticed this tailless lizard about 2 nights ago
what does that mean? That at some point while cleaning I will
most likely come across a nasty dead tail.
Let the search begin!

So Sad

Today I had a chance to sit with some of my girls
and read books after school. The page we were on
had a picture of a mother dog and her babies. One little girl
pointed to the mom dog and signed mom, then to the
babies and signed babies. She then signed
Daddy...where?.... runaway?
(translation did the dad leave the family?)
Those 3 signs and my heart broke a little.
how sad that at 5 years old that was her interpretation
of the picture.
Me trying to be positive explained to her that maybe
the dad dog was at work or making supper for the mommy
dog.
Lots and Lots of Prayers for these kids!

So Good For My Heart!

Yesterday I had the opportunity to go down to Kingston.
Blake was flying home and needed a ride home from the
airport. I was thankful for an excuse to get away for a day
AND.... to get to see my Kingston Kiddos!!!!
It has been way to long!
Kimberly was nice enough to give me a new "do"
I was thankful for it since it got the hair off my neck.
It was so humid I had sweated through 2 shirts in the
short time I was there... pleasant.... I know:)
After I got through giving hugs and kisses to the kids
and having them all show me my sign name they
asked for a camera to start capturing moments.
Right after this picture was taken Melissa came up
with a broken slipper (flip flop) and wanted me to do
something about it.
so with the help of Rashawn I was able to find a small nail
and with that and a rock I was able to fix her slipper.
(thats whats going on behind Dayne as he poses for a pic)
daPhawn wanted to show off for me and was trying
to impress me with his strength as he would pick
up Dayne again and again to show me how strong he was.
He then told me to stand up so he could try to lift me,
but once I stood up he realized I was to big:)
No idea who has my camera at this point but we had
a nice picture set up with Tissiana, Tissy-Ann and Kimberly
and I, but before the picture could be taken Glenisha,
daPhawn, and Delano jumped in the picture.

I LOVE my Kingston Kids and Praise God
I had an opportunity to spend some time with them
yesterday! They are so good for my heart!

Hello Nicole

Tuesday Night the storms from Nicole moved in and were SO
loud I didn't sleep much Tuesday night.
woke up to Nicole's continual "blessings" and no power
Wednesday morning. I had to use candles to see since it was
still so dark. I think this picture was
taken about 9-10 in the morning.
Wednesday(through today) we have had a "storm" day
canceling school.
Since it was so dark outside, and there was no school I
took two naps Wednesday before 1:30:)
(I really didn't sleep good Tuesday Night:)
We didn't have electricity for about 48hours so I spent a lot of
time trying to stay warm, and tried to pass the time while there
was enough natural light by reading.

Praise Jesus about 9 last night the electricity came back on
and so far it has stayed on! WOOHOO! And also
that everyone here was safe through the storm and
no major damage was done:)
